Our busy summer of children’s programming ends this Friday, August 15, with a special ice cream party at 2:30 p.m. for registered children who have been submitting their reading logs.

Experience the excitement and joy of live theater as student actors from Kidstock! Summer Theater perform the original mini-musical “Surfing Beauty.” This modern telling of a familiar tale takes us to the beaches of Hawaii where the “Prince of Tides” is destined to fall asleep for 100 years by pricking his finger on…a surfboard! The audience is invited to “hang ten” and help defeat the evil enchantress Surfsula!

This FREE 40-minute show involves audience participation and is recommended for ages 3 and up.

Experience the excitement and joy of live theater as student actors from Kidstock! Summer Theater perform the original mini-musical “The Emperor’s New Kangaroo.” In this “down under” version of the Grimms’ classic tale about ego and trickery, two cunning tailors from the Australian Outback prey on the Emperor’s love for exotic pets in his royal zoo…already filled with spectacular beasts played by audience members.

From owl pellets and slime to breaking sound barriers, Keith Michael Johnson makes science fun as he amuses kids with stunning demonstrations and challenges them with outrageous questions, raucously reinforcing what they learn in school. Children (ages 6 and up) are invited to learn fascinating facts about owls as Wingmasters presents The World of Owls. This program shows how owls use their specialized powers of sight, hearing and flight to survive and thrive. A wealth of fact and folklore about these masters of the dark explains the natural and unnatural history of owls. A variety of live owls provides the focus of the presentation.

Children (through grade 5) are invited to register for the Summer Reading Program and receive a reading log. Readers are eligible for an incentive prize for each week (7/11-8/17) that they read for two hours or more. (For pre-readers, being “read aloud to” counts!)
